New Top Level Domains

      Late last year, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approved the following seven new generic Top Level Domains, usually known as "gTLDs": .biz, .info, .name, .pro, .coop, .museum and .aero. These gTLDs expand the list of of currently available (and widely recognized) domains such as .com, .edu, .net, and .org.
      .biz, .info, and .name are in use now. It is also possible for United States companies to register .us domains. Top level registrars are working out the technical and legal details to make the other new domains available.
      Although several of the new extensions are for general use, others are targeted specifically for particular groups, and are expected to have limited registration.
